Tom Carey, Ed.D. is a Specialist Professor of Homeland Security at Monmouth University. Dr. Carey is a retired New York City Police Department Detective Sergeant and Sergeant Major in the New York Army National Guard and a Certified Emergency Manager and a Certified Protection Professional. His professional experiences include patrol, narcotics, intelligence, and training. Dr. Carey research focuses on experiential learning and client-based service learning in emergency management and the development of homeland security curricula. He holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice and a M.S. in Criminal Justice and Security Administration from Long Island University, and an Ed.D. from St. John Fisher College.
